Ultimate Champs of the 1st and 2nd HERO FACE-OFF donned their colorful costumes in ABS-CBN shows to promote the biggest and grandest upcoming cosplay event in the Philippines – the HERO FACE-OFF 2012.
HERO FACE OFF 2010 Ultimate Champs Mary Grace Roldan and Stephanie Sumbe shared some laughs with teen housemates Yves and Tom and the box office comedian-host Vice Ganda at the trending comedy show, Gandang Gabi, Vice! last Sunday.
Two exclusive anime films will be screened during the HERO FACE OFF 2012, an added excitement to the annual cosplay event, attended by hundreds of anime enthusiasts all over the country.
This year, the big movie treats will be Gintama The Movie and Yugioh 3D Bonds Beyond Time that will be shown on July 7, 2012 at the SM Mega Trade Hall 1.
The 2nd PUP Otaku Xperience will happen on March 2-3, 2012 at the PUP Freedom Plaza, PUP Main Campus in Sta. Mesa, Manila. It is presented by the PUP Otaku U Rule who will also be celebrating its second year anniversary with the event.
The organization will also be launching the Ignite Anime campaign during the event. The campaign "is designed to reenergize and reinvigorate the anime fandom and individual anime brand with fun games and activities for the enjoyment of the general public."
Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with Philippine Toy Con 2011 at the Megatrade Halls 1, 2, and 3 of SM Megamall from 10 AM to 10 PM on both days.
Philippine Toy Con is also Asia's biggest and long time running convention for comics, toys, anime, cosplay, movies, gaming and anything related to hobby and collectibles, so expect a lot of top brands participating in the event.
Make your weekend fun-filled especially with the cosplay. A two-day pass only costs P200 each. Not bad, no? And you'd be inside Megamall so there would be a lot of cheap places to eat.
I was at the e-Games Domination V last April 2. I arrived at SMX around 4:00 PM while the Shure Band was performing. The band was the 2nd place winner of the battle of the bands during the R2D5 NCR leg.
The event was hosted by Eri Neeman and two other girls I didn't get the names of.
SMX was packed but I think there were more attendees last year. Well, correct me if I'm wrong but I could barely roam around last year. Or was it just the floor plan this year that made it seem more maluwang?
There were computers for free play but the line was oh-so-long. I just busied myself with watching Ran Online's "Flip Top" challenge in the game's booth. The last two standing battled it out on the main stage.
The judge was no less than Gloc9, who confessed that he doesn't freestyle himself. He just chose the one with better construction and rhyming. The one in black, named Gabby(?), won the battle, while the one in red, I guess, will be dubbed "Yo!" after that.
Audition Dance Battle also had a dancing event. Just like in Ran Online's, teams of three dancers were screened at the Audition booth and the last two remaining groups battled it out on the main stage. And one group was so obviously better than the other.
Of course Team 1 (the all-male team) won.
Highlight of the event was the cosplay competition. I had two favorites:
Unfortunately, none of these two won.
Open category was won by Rolando Logronio, a familiar name in cosplay, as Hades and Eli Chan(?) as a nymph from some anime.
E-Games category, on the other hand, had Christian Umali in the second place and Zyka Managad (?) in the first place. Zyka cosplayed a character from Granado Espada.
Was at the Philippine Cosplay Convention yesterday. The program took so long to start and so long to finish. My shoulder was so aching from the weight of the netbook I brought with me after standing for like 2 hours taking pics and waiting for the competition to start.
I don't know but most of the participants had mediocre costumes. Sorry. Blonde hair on brown skin isn't really something we can celebrate on. They could've covered their skin with rice powder or white body paint.
But I found some good ones. The best costume for me was the one worn by the emcee (LoL!).
Such details.
And another one with detailed costume:
You can have the biggest costume but a simple, detailed one is always better.
We didn't wait for the announcement of winners. It was so hot in Robinsons Ermita the nephew's nose bled while we're watching.
The Game Development Association of the Philippines (GDAP) is holding costume play (cosplay) competition opened to participants portraying characters from any video game.
Characters can come from games of any gaming platform, including PC, PlayStation or Xbox, Nintendo platforms and handheld gaming devices.
Ranulf Goss, International Game Developers Association (IGDA) Philippine Chapter chairman, said the competition highlights gamers’ endearment to their favorite video game characters. The cosplay competition is part of GDAP’s Game Craft, which also highlights a series of business sessions and classes for developers and artists during the entire BPO Summit.
For the past three years game development has been one of the latest highlights of the BPO Summit, largely due to a number of outsourced projects that local game development companies have been receiving.
GDAP has been promoting game development as one of the sunshine industries in the Philippines.
The competition will be part of the BPO Summit at the Crowne Plaza, Mandaluyong City in on December 2.
The competition will be divided into three categories. Best Male, Best Female, and Best Armor/Mecha cosplay.
Scores will be based on Accuracy, Craftsmanship and characterization. Winners in each category will receive P5,000. However, a grand champion will be chosen and will take home P10,000.
Goss is the first president of the GDAP when it was formed a few years ago. He was succeeded by Flipside Games President Gabriel Dizon.
Meanwhile, the GDAP event during the BPO Summit will highlight the visit of Chris Natsuume, producer of the high popular first person game Far Cry.
Natsuume will speak on game development and will also be one of the judges during the cosplay competition. -Via hackenslash
Level Up will be sponsoring Cosplay Mania this coming Sunday, October 12, 2008! Just like what we did during Road to Live, we’re going to have another public Grand Chase trial. Not only that, we will be giving away free Grand Chase CBT accounts and Posters as well. Oh diba? Hehehe. Cosplay Mania is organized by Cosplay.Ph, a Cosplay organization led by a good friend of mine - Pablo Bairan. To those who don’t know him, he’s actually Nethermir from the Chaos server. If I’m not mistaken, he’s the first level 99 Knight in the Philippines. Anyway, I hope to see you guys at the event! It will be at the SM Megamall Mega Trade Hall 3 and it will start at 10AM and will last until 9PM.
