Dennis Ritchie, a pioneer in computer programming, was found dead on Wednesday at his Berkeley Heights home in New Jersey. He was 70.
Dennis Ritchie has been in poor health after battling with prostate cancer and heart disease. He was living alone when he died. He is survived by his siblings Bill, John and Lynn.
The Harvard University graduate with degrees in Physics and Applied Mathematics was the creator of C Programming and co-creator of the UNIX operating system. UNIX is where most operating systems we use today was based, even the one I'm currently using right now – the Microsoft Windows.
We have lost two important people in the industry of computers over the past two weeks. We first lost Apple co-founder Steve Jobs last October 5, and now we lost someone whose works have been used by computer companies such as Apple.
It may sound morbid to ask, but I can't help but wonder, who's next?
